Dr. Sorenson is a Hoosier Native. After practicing in Indianapolis for the last several years at a large multi-specialty practice, he is excited to be back home.
Education/Certifications
Dr. Sorenson completed his undergraduate degree with high honors in Public Health at Indiana University – Bloomington. After graduation, he stayed in Bloomington and went on to earn his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Indiana University School of Optometry. Prior to graduation, Dr. Sorenson completed four externships specializing in ocular disease and pre and post op surgical care. He has knowledge and experience in the treatment and management of ocular disease, including but not limited to: glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, ocular infections, and urgent eye care needs. Dr. Sorenson is also available for routine family eye care for all ages.
Community/Professional Engagement
Dr. Sorenson has been caring for patients since he graduated high school. While in school he spent his summer breaks working as an Emergency Medical Technician providing care to a large variety of patients.
Dr. Sorenson is a volunteer for the Kindness to Prevent Blindness (KTPB) mobile unit. In collaboration with the Elkhart Education Foundation, the KTPB eye care mobile unit was designed with the goal to provide free vision screenings, exams, and glasses to all 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 8th grade students in Elkhart and St. Joseph County Schools—as is required by the Indiana Department of Education. This nonprofit initiative, funded by tax-deductible donations and in-kind community support, is focused on ensuring school children have the vision care they need to be successful in school.
Interesting Fact
Dr. Sorenson enjoys spending time with friends and family, including his wife Kelsey and daughter Reese. When he’s not in the office, you can usually find him hiking, grilling, and spending time outdoors.
