Transparent, Supportive Financial Care

Eye care involves a range of services that interact with insurance in different ways, and navigating coverage and costs can feel complicated. Our team is committed to providing clear, honest information about costs and coverage before services are rendered, so there are no surprises and every guest can make informed decisions about their care.

If you have questions about your insurance, your bill, or your financial options, call any of our four Northern Indiana locations, and we'll talk through whatever you need.

Insurance Plans Accepted

Boling Vision Center accepts a wide range of vision and medical insurance plans. Because eye care spans both benefit categories, different services may be covered under different plans.

  • Vision insurance typically covers routine exams, glasses, and contact lenses. We accept most major vision plans, including VSP and EyeMed.
  • Medical insurance covers the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and dry eye disease. We accept Medicare, Medicaid, and most major medical insurance plans.
  • Surgical services: Medically indicated procedures, including cataract surgery, are generally covered under medical insurance. Elective procedures, including LASIK, PRK, EVO ICL, and RLE, are not covered by standard plans, though some plans offer a laser vision correction discount benefit. FSA and HSA funds may be used for both medical and elective services.

To verify your coverage before an appointment, call any of our locations, and our billing team will assist.

Estimates & Transparency

We provide cost estimates for planned procedures based on your insurance coverage before services are rendered. For elective procedures and premium lens upgrades, complete pricing is provided at the time of consultation with no hidden fees.

After your insurance processes a claim, you will receive an Explanation of Benefits from your insurer. An EOB is not a bill; it summarizes how your claim was processed and what, if anything, remains your responsibility. If your EOB raises questions, our billing team is happy to help you understand it.

Financial Policies

Payment for services not covered by insurance, including co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket balances, is due at the time of service. We accept cash, check, all major credit cards, and FSA and HSA cards.

Any remaining balance after insurance processing is billed by statement. If you have questions about a statement, please contact our billing team before the due date.

We ask that guests provide advance notice when canceling or rescheduling. Our specific cancellation policy will be communicated at the time of scheduling.

Financial Assistance & Charitable Care

At Boling Vision Center, financial circumstances should never be a barrier to essential eye care.

  • Flexible financing is available for elective procedures and premium upgrades, including interest-free plans and extended payment terms. Financing options are discussed in detail at the consultation.
  • Kindness to Prevent Blindness is Boling Vision Center's nonprofit mobile eye care program, providing free vision services to underserved children and adults throughout Michiana. If you or someone you know may benefit from this program, please reach out to our team to learn more.
  • Financial hardship: For guests experiencing financial difficulty who need essential eye care, we encourage an open, confidential conversation with our patient services team. We are committed to finding solutions wherever possible.

Insurance & Billing Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between vision and medical insurance for eye care?

Vision insurance covers routine exams, glasses, and contacts. Medical insurance covers the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases. Some visits involve both, depending on what is addressed. Our billing team ensures claims are submitted appropriately to maximize your benefits.

Will I receive a bill after my appointment?

If a balance remains after insurance processing, you will receive a statement by mail. If you have questions, contact our billing team promptly, and we will work to address them.

Can I use my FSA or HSA at Boling Vision Center?

Yes. FSA and HSA funds can be used for eye exams, prescription eyewear, contact lenses, medically necessary treatments, and certain elective procedures. FSA and HSA cards are accepted at all four locations.

What if my insurance doesn't cover a service I need?

Our team will let you know the out-of-pocket cost before proceeding. Financing options are available for elective procedures and premium upgrades to help make costs more manageable.

What if I can't afford my balance?

Please reach out before your balance becomes overdue. We will discuss available options confidentially and without judgment, and can advise whether charitable care may be available for guests in need of essential eye care.
