Dr. Amy Layman is a native Hoosier and received her Bachelor and Doctorate in Optometry from Indiana University. She graduated with high honors in Optometry in 1998. She then taught and saw patients at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology, prior to joining Boling Vision Center. Dr. Layman holds the following active memberships: American Optometric Association, Indiana Optometric Association, North Central Optometric Society.
Dr. Layman is delighted to be with Boling Vision Center because of its commitment to providing state of the art treatment as well as compassionate care to patients in the Michiana area. Dr. Layman practices full scope optometry and is certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease. She also specializes in difficult contact lens fittings such as keratoconus and post-traumatic corneal injuries
The best part of my job is getting to know my patients on a personal level and seeing them return year after year.
Dr. Layman and her husband, Geoff, a political science professor at Notre Dame, are proud parents of three girls: Caroline and Kate, soon to be in the 4th grade, and Grace, an incoming freshman at Penn. She enjoys helping out with the PTO on her days off and being co-leader of Grace’s Girl Scout troop. Dr. Layman also enjoys watching college basketball, especially when the Irish and Hoosiers play.
Dr. Layman sees patients in the Notre Dame and Elkhart offices.
