I had Clear Lens Exchange surgery performed on July 22nd. Even though I didn't have cataracts I was seeking an option to eliminate or reduce my dependency on glasses. Since the surgery wasn't medically necessary, I paid 100% out of my own pocket for the surgery. I had Radial Keratotomy (RK) eye surgery in the late 1990's and that presented in itself some additional considerations for me when selecting surgical options. I am based in South West Michigan and met with 6 or 7 different practices in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Ann Arbor, and Michiana (I.e. South Bend, Elkhart, etc.). Boling Vision Center listened to what my goals and expectations (I.e. outcomes) were for having the surgery. I was very impressed during my initial consultation with Cindy prior to setting up an office visit to meet with the Dr.After consulting with the Dr., we reviewed multiple options and it was determined it would be best to wait for 6 months to see what lens advancements / new product launches would be available. At nearly the 6 month mark I received a call from Dr. Boling who explained the details surrounding a new lens that had been approved by the FDA. After speaking with the Dr. I returned for a quick office visit followed by surgery the following week. I am beyond happy that we waited for the new lens to become available. The surgery for both eyes was completed the same day and I didn't experience any pain whatsoever. The surgical staff who I worked with during the prep and post-op were extremely professional and very good. The post-op included follow up visits the following day, 1 week out, and 1 month out. At this time, my vision is clear and I do not need to wear glasses whatsoever. The benefits of this surgery should last the rest of my life. Even though the surgery was not covered by Insurance, to me it was worth the cost.I can't say enough about my positive experience with Boling Vision Center. Everything from the initial consultation to the surgery, and the post-op follow up appointments has been great. I have now met with multiple doctors from this practice and I can tell you they have all been extremely thorough and detail oriented. Dr. Richard Boling, the surgeon who performed my surgery is seriously an Amazing Dr. and someone I immediately felt comfortable with. Another plus for me was to see that Boling Vision Center is committed to the latest technology/innovations in eye care.Selecting the right practice for me to have my eye surgery was something which was extremely important to me. I invested a good amount of time in meeting with different practices as well as researching all of the different types or surgical options available. I strongly recommend Boling Vision Center.
