Pre-Op / Post-Op Instructions

What to expect during your LASIK

  • You will be given a mild sedative to help you relax.
  • Dr. Boling will use a special instrument so that blinking is not a problem.
  • Alcaine drops are used to anesthetize your eye.
  • Naphcon A drops are used to minimize redness and irritation.
  • You will be asked to look at a colored target light. The Allegretto Wave Eye-Q laser ensures the treatment is centered if you drift from the target light.
  • The actual LASIK procedure takes approximately 3.5 minutes for each eye.
  • The Intralase LASIK procedure utilizes two lasers; Intralase and the Allegretto Wave Eye-Q.
  • After the procedure you will be wearing clear plastic goggles to protect your eyes.
    • You will wear these goggles until you awaken the next morning.
    • You will continue to wear this protective shield for 1 week only while sleeping.
  • You will be given drops to use after your LASIK (see LASIK post-op instructions).
  • Dr. Boling will examine your eyes the 1st day, 1 week, 4 weeks, and 3 months after your laser procedure. Your referring family eye doctor will be involved in your pre and post operative care.
  • Dr. Boling is always available for interim exams if you have any problems or concerns.
